This Tribute website was created by Russ Awana on 1/14/2007 to honor our loved one.

Robert “Bob” Awana Jr. (43) passed away suddenly of heart failure on Sunday, January 7, 2007 near his home in Honolulu, HI.  He is survived by Michelle L.M. Awana - his wife and best friend of almost 20 years, father: Bob Awana Sr., mother: Lee Awana, brother: Russ Awana, mother-in-law: Barbara Ripple, sisters-in-law: Bobbie Awana (Amorozo) & Stephanie Ripple, grandmother: Beatrice Awana, and nephews: Alika, Brennen & Austin (Kaeo) Awana.

A graduate of St. Louis High School (82') and Heald College, Bob worked as an Information Technology Specialist for American Savings Bank since 1999.  Always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, his support of the community was no exception.  He was a four-gallon level blood donor at the Hawaii Blood Bank, participated in the annual Toys for Tots bike ride, and was a supporter of Aloha United Way and the Hawaiian Humane Society.

Bob lived his life with no inhibitions and was best known for his outgoing and gentle spirit.  All who knew him remember his heartfelt and meaningful bear hug greetings that relayed his unconditional love and appreciation of everyone he met.  Anyone fortunate enough to know Bob instantly considered him a true friend.  His love of family and the bedrock values taught him by his parents also made him a most wonderful husband and son.  His passion for life was truly evident in the way he lived each day to the fullest.  His laid back attitude was admired by all.  The warmth of his smile instantly allowed you to open your heart to him.  Among his many passions were traveling with his wife, riding his Harley Davidson with friends on Sunday afternoons, collecting antiques of all shapes and sizes and working around his home.  His life was cut short far too soon and he will be in our hearts and minds always.  Bravo, Bob, on a life well lived!

Our family would like to invite you to help pay tribute to Bob Jr. by submitting a testimonial and any photos you would like to share.  Your stories will be shared for all to learn more about just how important Bob Jr is to each of us.  Visit as often as you want and add as many pictures as you want.  Even if you think of a story a year from now, come back and share it.  Mahalo!
